A strategy for varices screening based on acoustic radiation force impulse combined with platelet (CHESS2001): An alternative of Baveno VI criteria

Yifei Huang, Lili Zhao, Ruiling He, Shuang Li, Chuan Liu, Xiaolong Qi, Jia Li – 18 September 2022 – Few studies have reported on acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) for varices screening. Our study aimed to identify a strategy based on liver stiffness measurement (LSM) and spleen stiffness measurement (SSM) by ARFI combined with platelet count (PLT), named the ARP strategy, for ruling out high‐risk varices (HRV) and avoiding unnecessary esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) in patients with compensated cirrhosis.

Practice patterns of the medical evaluation of living liver donors in the United States

Whitney E. Jackson, Alyson Kaplan, Jessica L. Saben, Michael S. Kriss, Jaime Cisek, Benjamin Samstein, AnnMarie Liapakis, Anjana A. Pillai, Robert S. Brown, Elizabeth A. Pomfret – 15 September 2022 – Living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) can help address the growing organ shortage in the United States, yet little is known about the current practice patterns in the medical evaluation of living liver donors. We conducted a 131‐question survey of all 53 active LDLT transplant programs in the United States to assess current LDLT practices. The response rate was 100%.

Vasor: Accurate prediction of variant effects for amino acid substitutions in multidrug resistance protein 3

Annika Behrendt, Pegah Golchin, Filip König, Daniel Mulnaes, Amelie Stalke, Carola Dröge, Verena Keitel, Holger Gohlke – 15 September 2022 – The phosphatidylcholine floppase multidrug resistance protein 3 (MDR3) is an essential hepatobiliary transport protein. MDR3 dysfunction is associated with various liver diseases, ranging from severe progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis to transient forms of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy and familial gallstone disease.
