Nocturnal Hypoxia Activation of the Hedgehog Signaling Pathway Affects Pediatric Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Severity

Shikha S. Sundaram, Marzena Swiderska‐Syn, Ronald J. Sokol, Ann C. Halbower, Kelley E. Capocelli, Zhaoxing Pan, Kristen Robbins, Brian Graham, Anna Mae Diehl – 17 April 2019 – Chronic intermittent hypoxia and hedgehog (Hh) pathway dysregulation are associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) progression. In this study, we determined the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)/nocturnal hypoxia and Hh signaling in pediatric NAFLD.

Maternal Immunity Influences Vertical Transmission of Hepatitis B to Newborns

Ashish Kumar Vyas, Pooja Negi, Sharda Patra, Jaswinder Singh Maras, Gayatri Ramakrishna, Shiv Kumar Sarin, Nirupma Trehanpati – 16 April 2019 – Vertical transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) from the mother to the newborn often results in viral persistence. To understand mechanisms of maternofetal HBV transmission, we studied maternal immunity and peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) transcriptome in mothers and newborns.

HDAC6 Suppresses Let‐7i‐5p to Elicit TSP1/CD47‐Mediated Anti‐Tumorigenesis and Phagocytosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Hee Doo Yang, Hyung Seok Kim, Sang Yean Kim, Min Jeong Na, Gyeongdeok Yang, Jung Woo Eun, Hee Jung Wang, Jae Youn Cheong, Won Sang Park, Suk Woo Nam – 16 April 2019 – Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) uniquely serves as a tumor suppressor in hepatocellular carcinogenesis, but the underlying mechanisms leading to tumor suppression are not fully understood. To identify comprehensive microRNAs (miRNAs) regulated by HDAC6 in hepatocellular carcinogenesis, differential miRNA expression analysis of HDAC6‐transfected Hep3B cells was performed.
