From NAFLD to MAFLD: Implications of a Premature Change in Terminology

Zobair M. Younossi, Mary E. Rinella, Arun J. Sanyal, Stephen A. Harrison, Elizabeth M. Brunt, Zachary Goodman, David E. Cohen, Rohit Loomba – 16 June 2020 – Despite the substantial gains in our understanding of NAFLD/NASH over the past 2 decades, there has been some dissatisfaction with the terminology “non‐alcoholic” which overemphasizes “alcohol” and underemphasizes the root cause of this liver disease, namely, the predisposing metabolic risk factors. As a potential remedy, a name change from NAFLD to metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has been proposed.

Association of Perfusion Characteristics and Posttransplant Liver Function in Ischemia‐Free Liver Transplantation

Zhiheng Zhang, Yunhua Tang, Qiang Zhao, Linhe Wang, Caihui Zhu, Weiqiang Ju, Dongping Wang, Lu Yang, Linwei Wu, Maogen Chen, Shanzhou Huang, Ningxin Gao, Zebin Zhu, Yixi Zhang, Chengjun Sun, Wei Xiong, Yuekun Shen, Yi Ma, Anbin Hu, Xiaofeng Zhu, Jian Rong, Changjie Cai, Zhiyong Guo, Xiaoshun He – 15 June 2020 – It has been shown that normothermic machine perfusion (NMP), a novel preservation method, is able to assess and resuscitate liver grafts with risk factors. However, there is no consistent criteria for the assessment of liver grafts with NMP.

Robotic Versus Open Right Lobe Donor Hepatectomy for Adult Living Donor Liver Transplantation: A Propensity Score–Matched Analysis

Dieter C. Broering, Yasser Elsheikh, Yasir Alnemary, Ahmed Zidan, Ahmed Elsarawy, Yahia Saleh, Saleh Alabbad, Mark Sturdevant, Yao‐Ming Wu, Roberto I. Troisi – 15 June 2020 – Robotic right lobe donor hepatectomy (RRLDH) is rarely performed, and data concerning its safety and efficacy are lacking. Here we compare our series of RRLDHs with a similar cohort undergoing open right lobe donor hepatectomy (ORLDH) with a propensity score–matched (PSM) analysis.
