Wei Chen, Romain Desert, Xiaodong Ge, Hui Han, Zhuolun Song, Sukanta Das, Dipti Athavale, Hong You, Natalia Nieto – 15 June 2021 – Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection changes the composition of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and enables the onset and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The ensemble of ECM proteins and associated factors is a major component of the tumor microenvironment. Our aim was to unveil the matrisome genes from HBV‐related HCC.
Gene Y. Im, Alexander S. Vogel, Sander Florman, Jonathan Nahas, Scott L. Friedman, Sarah Aqui, Laura Ford, Omar Mirza, Leona Kim‐Schluger, Thomas D. Schiano – 15 June 2021 – Early liver transplantation (LT) for severe alcoholic hepatitis (AH) is a rescue therapy for highly selected patients with favorable psychosocial profiles not responding to medical therapy. Given the expected increase of AH candidate referrals requiring complex care and comprehensive evaluations, increased workload and cost might be expected from implementing an early LT program for AH but have not been determined.
Amit Nair, Kazunari Sasaki, Teresa Diago Uso, Giuseppe D’Amico, Bijan Eghtesad, Federico Aucejo, Choon Hyuck David Kwon, Masato Fujiki, Charles Miller, Koji Hashimoto, Cristiano Quintini – 15 June 2021 – Donation after circulatory death (DCD) liver transplantation improves deceased donor liver use and decreases waitlist burden, albeit at an increased risk of biliary complications and inferior graft survival. Employing liver vascular inflow measurements intraoperatively permits allograft prognostication.
Dami Ko, Mary S. Dietrich, Katherine A. Gifford, Sheila H. Ridner – 15 June 2021 – Objective cognitive assessments, a gold standard diagnostic tool for cognitive impairment, may not be feasible in busy liver transplantation (LT) practice because they are often time consuming. This study determined whether subjective cognition, patients’ self‐ratings and/or caregivers’ ratings of patients’ cognition, reflects objective cognition in LT recipients.
