Liver Chemistries in Patients With COVID‐19 Who Were Discharged Alive or Died: A Meta‐analysis

Qing‐Qing Xing, Xuan Dong, Yan‐Dan Ren, Wei‐Ming Chen, Dan‐Yi Zeng, Yan‐Yan Cai, Mei‐Zhu Hong, Jin‐Shui Pan – 21 July 2020 – Although abnormal liver chemistries are linked to a higher risk of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19)–related death, liver manifestations may be diverse and even confusing. Thus, we performed a meta‐analysis of published liver manifestations and described the liver damage in patients with COVID‐19 who died or discharged alive.

Differential Outcomes and Clinical Challenges of NAFLD With Extreme Obesity

Joud Arnouk, Vikrant P. Rachakonda, Diana Jaiyeola, Jaideep Behari – 21 July 2020 – Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is closely associated with obesity. The prevalence of extreme obesity, defined as body mass index (BMI) of 50 kg/m2 or higher, is rising more rapidly than overall obesity. We aimed to compare the clinical outcomes and performance of noninvasive fibrosis assessment tools in NAFLD with or without extreme obesity.
