Serum Proteomics Uncovers Biomarkers of Clinical Portal Hypertension in Children With Biliary Atresia

Julie Osborn, Reena Mourya, Unmesha Thanekar, Weizhe Su, Lin Fei, Pranavkumar Shivakumar, Jorge A. Bezerra – 26 December 2021 – Children with biliary atresia (BA) often develop portal hypertension (PHT) and its complications, which are associated with high morbidity and mortality. The goal of this study was to identify serum biomarkers of PHT by using large‐scale proteomics.

Brittany Rocque, Aaron Zaldana, Carly Weaver, Julia Huang, Arianna Barbetta, Victoria Shakhin, Cameron Goldbeck, George Yanni, Shannon Zielsdorf, Yong Kwon, Kambiz Etesami, Yuri Genyk, Shengmei Zhou, Rohit Kohli, Juliet Emamaullee – 25 December 2021 – Although pediatric liver transplantation (LT) results in excellent long‐term outcomes, a high incidence of early acute cellular rejection and late graft fibrosis persists.
