Seminar: Long-term Experience of the Latin DILI Networking Focusing on NSAIDS

Date: Thursday, September 12, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm (EDT)

Presenter: Fernando Bessone, MD, PhD

Hosted By: Hepatoxicity SIG

The LATINDILI Hepatotoxicity Registry was created in 2011, with the support of the University of Malaga (Spain). Over the past 12 years, ten countries in Latin America have collaborated enrolling patients affected by both drug-induced liver damage (DILI) and hepatotoxicity related to herbal and dietary supplements. This presentation will outline the phenotypic and clinical characteristics of 468 patients enrolled in our registry, highlighting the most prevalent agents responsible for DILI in Latin-American countries.

The second part of my presentation will specifically address DILI induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), with a focus on compounds that most frequently impact in our region, such as diclofenac, ibuprofen, coxibs and nimesulide. These data will be compared with those observed in the Spanish DILI registry.
