Hieu Trung Banh is a recipient of the 2024 AASLD – APASL Academic Skills Workshop. He is currently a liver surgeon at the Liver Tumor Department, Cho Ray Hospital.

Rex Wan-Hin Hui
Dr Rex Wan-Hin HUI is a Clinical Practitioner at the Department of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He received his medical degree from HKU in 2018, graduating at the top of his class with the John Anderson Gold Medal. He also received a Master of Research in Medicine degree in 2018 and was conferred Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2021. Dr Hui’s research focuses on the natural history and risk prediction in hepatitis B and hepatocellular carcinoma. He has published over 50 journal articles, and his research has been recognised by awards from AASLD, EASL, APASL, the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, the Hong Kong College of Physicians, and the Hong Kong Society of Gastroenterology respectively.

Tsubasa Tsutsumi
Dr. Tsutsumi completed his Ph.D. at Kurume University Graduate School of Medicine in March 2023 and has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine at Kurume University School of Medicine since 2024. His research primarily focuses on the significance of metabolic abnormalities in steatotic liver disease (SLD) and the association between SLD and multi-organ diseases. Recently, Dr. Tsutsumi has participated in multi-center studies and has actively presented his research findings at academic conferences.

Wasit Wongtrakul
Dr. Wasit Wongtrakul currently holds the position of research fellow under the mentorship of Prof. Phunchai Charatcharoenwitthaya at the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. He received his Doctor of Medicine with First Class Honors from Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in 2021. His primary research interests encompass metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, sarcopenia, cirrhosis, and systematic review with meta-analysis. Notably, Dr. Wongtrakul has received prestigious accolades, including the Poster Distinction Award at the Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) in 2023, the Best Oral Research Presentation at the Thai Association for the Study of the Liver (THASL) in 2024, and the AASLD-APASL Early Career Investigator Award from the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) in 2024.
