Early Liver Transplantation for Severe Alcohol-Associated Hepatitis: the Keys for Selection, Prognostication and Monitoring

Description

This session will provide the tools needed for correct identification and prognostication of patients undergoing early liver transplantation for severe alcohol-associated liver disease. Additionally, attendees will gain an understanding of the keys of psychosocial evaluation and post-liver transplantation monitoring of alcohol use.

Objectives

  • Learn about prognostic models and biomarkers to predict survival and liver recompensation in patients with severe alcohol-associated liver disease undergoing early liver transplantation
  • Recognize the need for multidisciplinary treatment of patients with alcohol-associated liver disease, including hepatology and addiction teams
  • Learn about post-liver transplantation monitoring on alcohol use and interventions to reduce post-liver transplantation return to alcohol use
