Biography

Dr. Liangpunsakul is a Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Indiana University. His research focuses on (i) identification of non-invasive biomarkers to screen for excessive alcohol use, (ii) basic mechanisms and translational studies to determine the pathogenesis of alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD), and (iii) novel therapy for ALD. He is currently the principal investigator of several research projects funded by the US Department of Veterans Affairs (Merit Review) as well as the National Institute of Health (NIH/NIAAA). He has written/co-written more than 200 peer-reviewed articles. He served as a standing member of the NIH HBPP study section from 2017-2021. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor of HEPATOLOGY
