Lisa VanWagner MD MSc FAST FAHA is Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Clinical Research in the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Her clinical research lab utilizes health services research methods to define and characterize cardiometabolic disease risk prediction, prevention, and treatment approaches in patients with chronic liver disease particularly surrounding liver transplantation. She has published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts and received continuous NIH funding since 2012. Dr. VanWagner is a fellow of the AHA and AST, past chair of the AST Liver and Intestine Community of Practice (LICOP) and currently serves on the AASLD Nominating Committee and the AASLD Foundation Individual Fundraising Committee. Her clinical practice focuses on patients with diseases of the heart-liver axis and metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) both before and after liver transplantation.
