Description
Liver disease and transplantation in children is a unique problem. Yet, pediatric patients are listed for liver transplant in almost the same way as adult patients; as a result, the severity of disease is not always accurately captured in kids. Living donation has the potential to affect the outcome of pediatric liver disease within this current system. The goal of this session is to review the process of liver transplant in kids and introduce the concept of living donation.
Objectives
- Understand how the listing and transplantation process works in children
- Learn what living donation means
- Learn how living donation can affect transplantation in children
