Biography

Dr. Michelle Martin is a clinical pharmacist in the Liver Clinic at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UI Health) where she guides patients through hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment. Physicians and nurse practitioners refer all HCV patients to her to manage via her pharmacist-driven HCV management protocol. She evaluates patients and selects appropriate HCV regimens, links them to specialty pharmacy to gain coverage, and provides HCV education and medication training for all patients who are referred to start HCV treatment. She serves as the patient’s contact throughout HCV treatment and schedules patients for follow-up clinic appointments and blood work through 12 weeks after HCV treatment completion. She also works collaboratively with the transplant team to treat HCV in our HCV Donor (+) / Recipient (-) kidney transplant patients to provide optimal patient care for this patient population and other transplant patients.
