Atsushi Nakajima

Biography

Atsushi Nakajima, MD, PhD is a Professor and Chairman in the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the Yokohama City University School of Medicine. Dr. Nakajima graduated from the Osaka University School of Medicine in 1989, and became an Assistant Professor of the 3rd Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at University of Tokyo in 1997. He engaged in research as a Visiting Associate Professor at the GI division of Brigham and women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School from 2000 to 2006, after that, he became a Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology at the Yokohama City University School of medicine in 2008, and then a Professor & Chairman in the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the Yokohama City University School of medicine in 2014. He has carried out several clinical trials aiming at the new drug application for NASH and investigator initiated studies to reveal the disease entity of NASH/NAFLD.
