Dr. Kono is a transplant hepatologist at UC San Diego, with expertise in liver imaging and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) diagnosis. She graduated from Kyoto University School of Medicine and trained in hepatology and radiology. Dr. Kono is a recognized leader in contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), particularly for liver imaging. She has published 101 peer-reviewed articles and chaired the CEUS LI-RADS working group from 2014 to 2020, during which she established the CEUS LI-RADS algorithm. Additionally, she serves as a board member for the International Contrast Ultrasound Society (ICUS).
