Dr. Chen is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Amherst College, followed by medical school at Harvard Medical School, residency at Stanford Healthcare, and gastroenterology/hepatology fellowships at the University of Michigan (completed June 2020). During fellowship, he obtained a Master in Science in Bioinformatics at University of Michigan. Dr. Chen's clinical focus is in hepatology generally and steatotic liver disease (SLD) specifically, and his research interests are in precision health and genetics in liver disease. He has led several of the largest genome-wide association studies in liver disease and is also exploring how to combine genetics with conventional clinical parameters and machine learning to predict risk of disease progression in SLD and determine which patients are most likely to respond to which treatments.
