Therese (Tess) Bittermann, MD, MSCE is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the University of Pennsylvania with a dual faculty appointment in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics. She is an NIH-funded clinical researcher who studies patient and non-patient predictors of liver disease and transplant outcomes, immunosuppression pharmacoepidemiology, unwarranted variability in care and healthcare disparities. She is a prior recipient of the 2020 AASLD Foundation Autoimmune Hepatitis Pilot Research Award and is currently a member of the AASLD Practice Guidelines Committee. She also serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Autoimmune Hepatitis Association.
