Susan Zapatka, MSN, APRN, ANC-BC

Biography

Ms. Zapatka, MSN, APN-BC is currently the VA CT Healthcare System's (VACHS) Liver Resource Center's Nurse Practitioner. Susan was the NP Co-Director for the Center of Excellence in Primary Care Education, and recipient of many nursing and academic awards, including Yale School of Medicine Internal Medicine Primary Care Residency Program – Support Staff Recognition Award and the CTAPRN NP of the Year Award. Susan is devoted to advancing trainee education and is a member of several professional organizations such as the American Association for The Study of Liver Disease (AASLD), CT Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Society (CTAPRNS), and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. She maintains a collaborative academic partnership and she has a diverse healthcare background. Her current role at the VACHS includes managing and treatment of Hepatitis C, MASLD/MetALD/NASH, HCC, alcoholic related liver disease and cirrhosis, mentoring trainees and junior faculty, development and implementation of curriculum, research, and clinical practice as well as participation at the VA national level.
