Biography

Dr. Su Jong Yu is a distinguished hepatologist and researcher from the Republic of Korea, affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine and the Liver Research Institute at Seoul National University College of Medicine. With a medical education background spanning an MD, an MSc, and a PhD from Seoul National University, Dr. Yu has extensive experience in hepatology, focusing on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), immunotherapy, the gut microbiome, and biomarker research.
Professionally, Dr. Yu has held various significant roles, including Clinical Professor at Seoul National University since 2011, a Visiting Scientist at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the NIH in the USA from 2016 to 2018, and positions within the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL) and the Korean Liver Cancer Association (KLCA). Dr. Yu currently serves as the Director of the Planning Committee for KASL and Academy Affairs Director for KLCA.
Dr. Yu's research contributions include numerous high-impact publications on topics like HCC detection through cell-free DNA methylation, survival prediction in HCC patients, response prediction to therapies like sorafenib, and innovative approaches in liver cancer treatments. With expertise in both clinical and translational research, Dr. Yu is at the forefront of advancing liver disease diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes.
