I am a gastroenterologist, a clinical professor of medicine, and the director of IBD Education and the Advanced IBD Fellowship at Stanford. I am passionate about taking care of people with IBD. My interests are in fertility and pregnancy in people with IBD and in developing precision approaches to IBD therapy. My research projects focus on optimizing clinical outcomes in IBD, the role of the environment in IBD, and applying new technologies to individualizing therapy for IBD. I also enjoy collaborating with industry colleagues in industry-sponsored IBD trials of novel therapeutics. In addition, I serve on the Gastrointestinal Drug Advisory Committee at the FDA.
Health policy and advocacy for people with digestive diseases are also a top priority and I have represented the interests of gastroenterologists and patients on Capitol Hill. I believe strongly in a collaborative approach to give patients personalized care based on the latest therapies for the treatment of IBD, and am committed to mentoring the next generation of experts in the field.
