Robert Wong, MD, MS, FACG, FAASLD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine (Affiliated) in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Stanford University School of Medicine, and staff physician in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section at Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Healthcare System. He completed gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also completed a Master's in Epidemiology and Clinical Research. He is the Immediate Past President of the Northern California Society for Clinical Gastroenterology. He is the editor-in-chief of Gastroenterology Research and serves on the editorial board of Hepatology and Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology. His clinical interests include management of patients with complex liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and steatotic liver disease. His clinical research focuses on epidemiology, outcomes, and health services research in patients with chronic liver diseases, with a particular focus on healthcare disparities among under-served, vulnerable, and ethnic minority populations. His research has been funded by the NIH National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities and National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American College of Gastroenterology, and others. His has over 235 peer-reviewed publications and his work has been published in high impact journals including, JAMA, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and American Journal of Gastroenterology. He is a member of the AASLD Annual Meeting Planning Committee, the ACG Practice Parameters Committee, and ACG Educational Affairs Committee. He serves as the Chair of the ACG Practice Parameters GRADE Methodology Team, and the Liver Section Editor of the ACG Self-Assessment Test Committee.
