Dr. Pichamol (Sigh) Jirapinyo is an advanced endoscopist and bariatric endoscopist at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, where she also serves as the Director of Bariatric Endoscopy Fellowship. Dr. Jirapinyo's clinical and research interests are in the areas of endoscopic management of obesity and metabolic diseases including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). In addition to performing therapeutic procedures including EUS and ERCP, Dr. Jirapinyo routinely performs both endoscopic bariatric and metabolic procedures and endo-hepatology procedures, particularly for patients suffering from MASLD. Additionally, she routinely prescribes lifestyle intervention and FDA-approved medications for patients with obesity and metabolic diseases including MASLD. Dr. Jirapinyo's research work includes over 120 peer-reviewed articles with an H-index of over 30, U.S. patents and licensing agreements, society and industry grants, live case demonstrations and national and international invited lectures in the field of bariatric and metabolic endoscopy. She has been the recipient of awards, including the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Research Award, the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Outstanding Research Award, and the American Foregut Society (AFS) Early Career Award. She currently serves as the Chair of the Advanced Endoscopy Committee for the ASGE and the Endobariatrics Committee for the Foundation for Interventional & Therapeutic Endoscopy (FITE). She also recently co-led the first ASGE-ESGE joint society guideline on bariatric and metabolic endoscopy.
