Biography

Neeraja Kannan, DNP, FNP-BC is a VA CT Healthcare System's (VACHS) Nurse Practitioner with primary focus on Liver Cancer care. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and she is board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC). She completed her NP residency at VA Connecticut Healthcare System's Center of Excellence in Primary Care in 2021, a program known for its rigor and interdisciplinary focus. She was recruited as Hepatology APRN upon graduation, and has expanded her experience in hepatology by managing patients with various liver diseases, including cirrhosis, steatotic liver disease, and liver cancer, under the direct mentorship and guidance of experts in the field - Dr. Tamar Taddei (executive committee member AASLD; Section chief, Digestive Diseases, VA, Connecticut, ), Dr Garcia-Tsao (past president of the AASLD and prior Section Chief), Dr. Simona Jakab (Associate Chief of Hepatology), as well as Susan Zapatka, APRN, a member of the Hepatology Associates Committee. She has grown her practice to improve healthcare delivery for patients with liver cancer from surveillance/diagnosis, presentation in liver tumor board and collaboration with Interventional Radiology, Surgery, Oncology, pharmacy, health psychology.
