Jose M Mato, PhD

Biography

José M Mato, completed his education at the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Leiden. He conducted his research in the Netherlands, Switzerland, United States, and Spain before being appointed as Research Professor at the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in 1986. In 2004, he received the National Prize for Research in Medicine in recognition of his contributions to the field of metabolism and liver disease. He is the current general director of CIC bioGUNE and CIC biomaGUNE, both located in the Basque Country, Spain.
