Biography

Dr. Jeffrey Teckman received his MD from Washington University in St. Louis and trained in pediatrics and then pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at Washington University and Saint Louis Children's Hospital. He is currently the James and Patrician Monteleone Endowed Chair at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Vice Chair of Pediatrics, and Professor of Pediatrics and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Teckman has more than 30 years of funded research in the mechanisms of liver disease and in liver drug therapeutic development. He has published widely on the genetic disease, alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency and on other topics of liver disease including autophagy, hepatitis B, and nutrition related liver disease. He holds patents on liver drug development and regularly consults with industry partners, FDA, and private foundations.
