Donna Kincaid is currently a patient on the liver transplant list at Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute in Oklahoma City, OK. She was diagnosed with end stage liver disease and in need of a transplant in July of 2020 as result of both alcohol dependency and alpha 1 anti-trypsin deficiency with a MELD score of 34. She worked to satisfy transplant listing requirement for one year before being officially listed in July of 2021. Through rigid adherence to medical advice and nutrition in particular her health has improved significantly over the past three years subsequent to listing.
Donna is very active with patient support groups. She acts as a sponsor and chairperson for AA meetings that are devoted primarily to transplant patients, providing 24-hour support if needed for new patients or those in crisis. She is also very active in TRIO (Transplant Recipients International Organization) Oklahoma Chapter, a pioneer in providing practical, emotional, and educational support to patients via peer-to-peer online meetings. Through TRIO, she is becoming increasingly involved in education and advocacy with respect to transplant policies, legislation and challenges from a patient perspective.
Education and career
Donna attended the University of Tulsa and graduated with a degree in Management. She began her career as a Programmer Analyst before transitioning into Energy Marketing and Trading. She spent most of her career as an energy industry marketing executive and frequently spoke at regional and national energy venues.
