Dr. Carolyn Wester serves as the Director of the Division of Viral Hepatitis within CDC's National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention. She has over 25 years of public health and clinical research experience focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of viral hepatitis, HIV, and STIs in the U.S. and internationally. In her current role, Dr. Wester provides national leadership in viral hepatitis strategic planning; monitoring disease trends; outbreak detection and response; developing and promoting national testing and vaccination guidelines; and advancing partnerships and public health practices in support of viral hepatitis elimination.
