Dr. Bilal Hameed is the Professor of Medicine and the Ambutatory Chair of Hepatology at the University of California Medical Center, San Francisco. He is the Director of the Fatty Liver Clinic at UCSF.
Dr. Hameed's research program is focused on several critical areas within hepatology, including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), post-transplant NASH and novel drug therapies for NASH. His involvement as the co-chair for the AASLD task force for implementing new steatotic liver disease nomenclature reflects his dedication to advancing the understanding and classification of liver diseases. Dr. Hameed's is a site-PI for the NIH-funded NASH-CRN study and co-PI for the NIH-funded Liver Cirrhosis Network (LCN). The many ongoing clinical trials for steatotic liver disease highlight Dr. Hameed's proactive approach to exploring new treatment modalities and therapeutic interventions. His work has resulted in many impactful, peer-reviewed publications.
