Dr. Ashish Dhawan is a senior medical officer in the Division of Hepatology and Nutrition (DHN) at the FDA. He is trained as a pediatric gastroenterologist, completing his fellowship from Cincinnati Children's Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH. Dr. Dhawan joined the FDA in November 2020 as a medical reviewer. Prior to joining the FDA, he was practicing as a pediatric gastroenterologist at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Philadelphia, PA. He is also board certified in pediatrics and has worked as a pediatric hospitalist at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA. He completed his residency in pediatrics from Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ, a Drexel University College of Medicine affiliate, at that time. He earned his medical degree from BJ Medical College, University of Pune, India in 1997 and a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) with concentration in epidemiology from University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC in 2007.
