Dr. Ana C. Maretti-Mira is a biomedical scientist with a master's degree in Parasitology and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology focused on Immunology. Her journey in Hepatology began in 2015 when she joined the University of Southern California (USC) as a postdoctoral fellow to study the underlying mechanisms of liver fibrosis driven by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells, the immunological aspects of chronic liver diseases, and the contribution of cholesterol to the development of MASLD. Now, as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Maretti-Mira pioneers developing a novel liver disease modeling framework using the 3D human liver spheroids in combination with state-of-the-art technologies. This innovative approach seeks to integrate dietary and environmental factors, enabling a comprehensive understanding of MASLD development.
