Overcoming Challenges in the Hepatitis C Care Cascade

Individuals with Hepatitis C virus are curable if they follow a simplified treatment algorithm of highly effective, short-duration direct-acting antiviral therapy. Nevertheless, less than half of people living with hepatitis C have been diagnosed and only a small fraction has been cured. The purpose of this SIG session is to teach the hepatitis C specialist practical solutions to overcome the remaining challenges in the hepatitis C care cascade, including how they can utilize the electronic medical record to implement solutions from a health systems level; how their expertise can be used for community-based approaches to hepatitis C screening and treatment; about new innovations in hepatitis C care; and the important counseling and monitoring of patients after their hepatitis C cure. Each speaker will share a summary slide addressing practical tips that participants can use in their own clinics and communities.

  • Describe post-treatment counseling and monitoring of patients who have achieved hepatitis C cure
