Biography

Currently, at the Center for Engineering in Medicine & Surgery (CEMS) at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, I and my group work on models to tackle problems at the intersection of growing medical concerns and bleeding-edge engineering advances. Specifically, we work on a) engineered micro/ macro tissue models of the liver and other organs where we seek to understand normal physiological peculiarities as well as diseased states, b) biopreservation of a wide variety of cells tissues, and organs and understanding and controlling the state of aqueous solutions, and c) biomaterials that enable better outcomes both in vitro (i.e., microfluidic applications, devices) and in vivo (animal and direct patient applications).
