Biography

Lorraine Stiehl was named CEO of the American Liver Foundation (ALF) in January 2021. After a successful reorganization during COVID, ALF is stronger than it has been in decades and is impacting the lives of liver patients and their loved ones. A successful non-profit leader for over three decades, Ms. Stiehl served on the NIDDK Advisory Board at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As a public health leader at both the state and federal levels, Ms. Stiehl advocates for strengthening disease prevention efforts, and supporting patients battling chronic diseases and their healthcare providers. Ms. Stiehl worked both professionally and as a national volunteer leader for numerous non-profits including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Ms. Stiehl also worked for nearly two decades at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), providing leadership in clinical trial recruitment, fundraising development, and marketing and communications.
