Description

The session will review specific clinical practice challenges hepatology specialist may encounter, including optimizing cirrhotic patients for surgery, estimating MASLD fibrosis severity using non-invasive measures, determining the best time span to utilize beta blockers in patients with cirrhosis, exploring the utility of TIPS in non-classic circumstances and examining Fontan-associated liver disease.

Objectives

  • Understand how to assess risks associated with non-transplant surgery in patients with cirrhosis and learn how to manage patients with Fontan associated liver disease
  • Recognize the controversies regarding the use of betablockers in patients with advanced cirrhosis and learn how to assess the severity of liver diseases in MASLD without liver biopsy
  • Discuss the role of TIPS vs LDLT for patients with low MELD and complications of PHTN
