Description
In this session, hepatology trainees and practicing hepatologists will tackle a controversial hepatology topic in a lively debate format. Debaters and audience members will grapple with opposing scientific, societal, individual, and financial viewpoints in considering this topic.
Topic Vignette: A post-menopausal women has well-controlled diabetes and elevated liver biochemistries with F1 fibrosis.
PRO: She would benefit from routine follow-up in hepatology clinic.
CON: She does not currently require routine follow-up in hepatology clinic.
Objectives
- Describe relevant scientific, societal, ethical, and financial considerations of a controversial topic in hepatology
- Develop decision-making skills to assess challenging scenarios in clinical practice
- Incorporate content knowledge in this topic into clinical practice when discussing recommendations with patients/caregivers
