Statement on Disclosure

AASLD is an accredited provider of continuing medical education and adheres to the policies and standards set forth by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). As such, all faculty members (including Program Planners, Program Chairs, Moderators, Panelists, and Presenters) and abstract authors are expected to fully disclose all financial relationships with commercial interests during the past 12 months.

In compliance with ACCME standards, AASLD ensures that the content or format of all directly, co-provided and jointly provided CME activities and related materials will promote improvements or quality in health care and not a specific proprietary business interest or commercial bias.

AASLD staff, in collaboration with The Liver Meeting® Program Chairs, Planning Committees and/or Moderators, will review all faculty and abstract presenter disclosures prior to the meeting. Any potential conflicts of interest will be managed via the following ways:

  • Email reminder of AASLD’s COI policy (for COI that does not have a potential relationship to content)
  • Slide Review* (for COI that causes some concern or is directly related to the content)
  • Slide review and an Onsite Audit* (for COI that is highly conflicted with the content; should include a slide review)

*Presenters must comply with requests to submit their slides one – two months prior to the meeting. Any slides not received may result in the removal of your presentation from the program. At the conclusion of the slide review, presenters may be asked to alter the content of their presentation to ensure balance and eliminate any perception(s) of commercial bias.

AASLD staff and program committees reserve the right to change an abstract if the use of a trade name may be mistaken for commercial propaganda and may replace proprietary names with generic names. Logos promoting a commercial interest will be removed from any and all slides before presentation.
