Membership Approval Process
Membership applications are submitted to the Membership and Mentorship Committee to be recommended for approval by the Governing Board. The Governing Board will publish a list of applicants quarterly for approval by the membership. Upon approval, membership will become active per the schedule below based on the submission date of the complete application. The only exceptions to this timetable are applications for Trainee Membership, which are reviewed and activated upon receipt throughout the year.
**Trainee members may maintain their membership for up to one year following completion of their training program. This year allows time to meet the requirements for Regular/International membership. Trainee members must then submit an application and the required supporting documentation for Regular or International membership as noted above.
Application Review Schedule
AASLD has four membership application deadlines per year: January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. The only exceptions to this timetable are applications for Trainee Membership, which are reviewed and activated upon receipt throughout the year.
January 1 Application Timeline
January 1 Application deadline.
January - February Applications are reviewed and considered by the AASLD Membership and Mentorship Committee. Applications are then submitted to the AASLD Governing Board for approval.
March Final slate of candidates is presented to AASLD membership for review and consideration. Current members have 30 days to provide any written comments to AASLD's central office.
April 1 New memberships become effective.
