Membership Categories
Regular Membership -- Application
Annual Dues: $375.00
Journals: HEPATOLOGY and Liver Transplantation journals are included
Any physician, scientist, or researcher working in the United States, Canada or Mexico who has contributed to knowledge about the liver or biliary tract, including hepatologists, gastroenterologists, internists, surgeons, pediatricians, pathologists, biochemists, anatomists, microbiologists, physiologists, epidemiologists, pharmacologists or other qualified persons.
Candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited or equivalent doctoral level training program and must also meet at least one of the following three criteria:
- An academic appointment; or
- Prior attendance at two AASLD Annual Meetings; or
- Two or more publications (including accepted/presented abstracts) related to liver disease
International Membership -- Application
Annual Dues: $375.00 Journals: HEPATOLOGY and Liver Transplantation journals are included
Persons otherwise qualified for regular membership, but residing in countries outside the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
Corporate Affiliate -- Application
Annual Dues: $700.00 Journals: HEPATOLOGY $100/year, Liver Transplantation $65/year -- Discounted rates
Open to those individuals working within the healthcare industry who do not personally have medical training and would not otherwise be eligible for any other category of membership, and do not practice hepatology, liver transplantation, or hepatobiliary surgery, but demonstrate special interest within these fields.
Associate Membership -- Application
Annual Dues: $135.00
Journals: HEPATOLOGY $100/year, Liver Transplantation $65/year -- Discounted rates
Allied health professionals with medical training who practice within the fields of hepatology, liver transplantation, or hepatobiliary surgery, and who do not meet the criteria for any other membership category.
Trainee Membership -- Application
Annual Dues: $120.00
Journals: HEPATOLOGY and Liver Transplantation journals are included
Any physician, scientist, or researcher training in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, as certified by the director of their training program, who is interested in gaining and eventually contributing to knowledge about the liver or biliary tract.
International Trainee Membership -- Application
Annual Dues: $120.00
Journals: HEPATOLOGY and Liver Transplantation journals are included
Persons otherwise qualified for Trainee membership, but residing in countries outside the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
Converting Trainee Membership -- Application
Current Trainee and International Trainee members wanting to continue their membership with AASLD have up to one year after their training has ended to apply for Regular or International membership. (Please see applications and required qualifications for Regular and International member types above.)
Emeritus Membership
Annual Dues: Complimentary
Journals: Discounted rates -- HEPATOLOGY $100/year, Liver Transplantation $65/year
Emeritus membership is open to any Regular or International member who has attained the age of 65 years, has retired from full-time employment, and with a minimum of 10 consecutive years of membership in good standing immediately preceding the request for Emeritus membership and subject to the approval of the Governing Board. Emeritus members shall have all rights accorded Regular or International members except that dues are not required. Emeritus members are also eligible for discounted subscription rates for HEPATOLOGY and Liver Transplantation. Members interested in Emeritus membership are asked to write a letter to the Governing Board asking consideration of Emeritus status by having met all of the required criteria. The letter can be sent by email, mail, or fax to the central office.
Honorary Membership
Annual Dues: Complimentary
Journals: Discounted rates -- HEPATOLOGY $100/year, Liver Transplantation $65/year
Honorary membership is bestowed upon individuals who have made substantial contributions to the field of hepatology but do not meet the criteria for AASLD membership. Honorary membership is considered for individuals who are publicly recognized as providing ongoing support of the field of hepatology or the Association. Honorary membership carries all membership privileges except for voting and holding office. Dues are not required.
